Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge and pay respect to the Kombumerri people, the salt water people, the traditional custodians of Kombumerri Country, where our school is located. We extend this acknowledgement to the Elders, past and present. It is our responsibility to support our Jarjums in starting strong and to build on these foundations, so that they are on track for success and ready for the future. We take lessons from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in caring for Country and each other and for creating a safe and inclusive community.
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Parents and Community Members,
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our wonderful staff and community members for their unwavering support in making our recent Year 6 camp, sports gala day, and numerous excursions such a tremendous success. Your dedication and involvement play a crucial role in enriching the educational experiences of our students, with all events aligning perfectly with the Australian Curriculum. These events not only provide our students with invaluable learning opportunities but also help them develop important life skills, build camaraderie, and create lasting memories.
In addition to our regular communication channels, we are excited to introduce a new way for you to stay connected and share your valuable input. We invite you to contribute to our Community Communication Feed-In. Simply scan the QR code below or click here to access our platform and share your thoughts, ideas, and feedback. Your contributions will help us continuously improve and enhance our school community.
I am also pleased to announce our upcoming Principal's Tour on August 7. This tour will depart from the administration building at 9:30 AM. It's a fantastic opportunity to see our school, learn more about our programs, and ask any questions you may have. We look forward to welcoming you and showing you the vibrant learning environment we have created together.
Thank you once again for your ongoing support and dedication to our school community.
Warm regards
Ben Morris

Gala Day Sport
Our Year 5 & 6 students last week participated in our cluster sports gala day competition. Students competed in a variety of different sports across multiple locations. From all reports, the Mudgee Creek teams played well and came away with multiple wins. Sportsmanship and students overall behaviour was outstanding on the day. Well done senior students.
Year 6:
On the 22nd July our Year 6 students ventured up to Cairns for their Year 6 camp for 5 days accompanied by 8 staff members. The schedule was jam packed and students got to experience the following; Hartley’s Crocodile Farm, Kuranda Scenic Rail, Rainforestation Nature Park, Marine World at the Great Barrier of Reef, Mossman Gorge, Janbal Gallery & the Cairns Botanic Gardens. It was great to see so many students step outside their comfort zones and work together during activities and challenging times. Well done Year 6 and a huge thankyou to all the staff who attend and supported our students.
Warm regards

GALA Day
Year 6 Cairns Tour Adventure!
Junior School
What a busy few weeks as our junior cohorts ventured out to consolidate their learning with some real life experiences.
Prep
Our Prep students have visited David Fleay Wildlife Park this week to further their exploration of animal features and characteristics. The students have been learning about feather, fur and scales in class and loved observing our native animals up close at David Fleay Wildlife park. We may have a few future National Park Rangers in Prep as they were very interested in how the Park Rangers look after the animals and their habitats.
Year 1
Last Friday our Year 1 students travelled to Tropical Fruit World to build on their classwork about natural and built environments while exploring how humans use places to meet our needs. The students enjoyed the hands on learning experience and were keen to explore the many different natural and built environments at Tropical Fruit World.
Warm regards

Introducing BOSLEY - Education Support Dog Extraordinaire
We are thrilled to introduce you to a very special member of our school community: Bosley, the Bernese Mountain Dog, who serves as an Education Support Dog at Mudgeeraba Creek State School. Since joining us at just 8 weeks old, Bosley has become an invaluable part of our school family, providing comfort, support, and joy to our students and staff alike. Bosley was bred by Karleken Bernese Mountain Dogs and was carefully chosen as pick of his litter for his temperament, given he would need to perform a unique role at our school. Bosley has happily worked for almost four and a half years providing doggy love and pats to hundreds of students, parents, staff and visitors.
Bosley's Role in Supporting Students
Bosley's primary role is to assist students who are feeling worried, anxious, or upset and for those who might need encouragement and rewards. His calming presence and gentle nature help students navigate their emotions and reward their success, making him an essential part of our school community. Whether a child needs a comforting paw during a tough day, a friendly face to brighten their morning or acknowledge new learning, Bosley is always ready to lend a helping paw.
A Much-Loved Mascot and School Ambassador
Beyond his supportive duties, Bosley is also our much-loved school mascot. His playful demeanour and affectionate personality make him a favourite among students and staff. Bosley's daily interactions with the children foster a sense of community and belonging, contributing to a positive school environment. Bosley is always keen to welcome new visitors and dignitaries to our school. He has been showcased on social media in pictures with Ros Bates, Scott Bucholtz and other visitors and he has even featured on the front page of the Gold Coast Bulletin!
Part of the IDEAS Team
Bosley's work extends beyond individual support. He is a proud member of our IDEAS Team, which stands for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access Support. This team is dedicated to promoting an inclusive and supportive school culture where every student feels valued and included. Bosley's unique ability to connect with students helps bridge gaps and foster understanding among our diverse school population. Bosley is owned and cared for by the Head of Student Services who supervises all of his interactions with students and ensures that Bosley’s work at the school is conducted in line with Department of Education guidelines.
The Impact of Bosley
The impact of Bosley's presence at Mudgeeraba Creek State School is profound. Teachers have reported that students who interact with Bosley often show improved mood and increased engagement in their studies. Parents have shared stories of their children looking forward to school because they get to see Bosley. His ability to provide unconditional love and support makes a tangible difference in the lives of our students every day.
We are incredibly fortunate to have Bosley as part of our school community. His dedication to supporting our students and enhancing the inclusive environment at Mudgeeraba Creek State School exemplifies the values we hold dear. We look forward to many more years of Bosley's companionship and support at our wonderful school.
Warm regards
Pamela Lidstone
Head of Student Services

Important Reminders
Safety Alert - Bendigo Staff Only Carpark (off Tarrant Drive)
It has been brought to our attention that there are a number of unsafe behaviours being exhibited by some members of the school community in relation to the use of the above staff only carpark.
- Parents are parking inside the staff carpark before and after school- this is strictly prohibited
- Parents are exiting this carpark at speed as community members (both staff and students) are walking through
- Parents are jumping the Tree of Life/ Church fence with their children to access the school
Safety is our number one priority. Please lead by example for our students by doing the right thing and modelling the exemplary behaviours that will keep our school community safe.
Changes to Early Student Collection Procedure
We are excited to announce a new and improved process for early student pick-ups designed to enhance efficiency.
Effective immediately, when you arrive at school, please proceed directly to the Administration office—there is no need to phone ahead. Our office staff will then notify your child's classroom, and your child will come down to meet you.
This change ensures that students remain in their classrooms, minimising disruptions during key learning times. It also streamlines the early pick-up process for everyone involved.
We kindly request that you avoid picking up your child during break times as this can make it more difficult to locate students quickly and may cause unnecessary delays to your departure.
Break Times
Prep
First Break 10.45am - 11.15am
Second Break 12.45pm - 1.30pm
Year 1-Year 6
First Break 11.00am - 11.30am
Second Break 1.00pm - 1.45pm
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
A friendly reminder that all medication administered to students at school requires medical authorisation and the appropriate consents to be completed. This includes over the counter medications such as topical creams, Panadol etc that do not normally require a prescription.
If your child requires medication at school, please contact us to check the Department's requirements for packaging, labelling and medical authorisation prior to your doctor's visit or medication purchase as medication that does not meet the requirements cannot be accepted.
School Opinion Survey Closing August 16
Each school family should have by now received one email invitation from the Department of Education to complete the Parent/Caregiver Survey. The survey is anonymous, and the results are reported in ways that an individual’s response cannot be identified by the school.
If you have experienced any difficulties accessing the survey, you can request a new survey from the School Opinion Survey team via email schoolopinionsurvey@qed.qld.gov.au.
Your feedback is valuable and important to us, and we encourage all families to complete the survey.
